August Beauty Heroes

I can’t believe it’s already August and I’m here sharing the August Beauty Heroes box with you! This box is bringing us into the home stretch of summer in a perfect way, with a product made to combat the effects of all that summer fun, from a must-try brand. Each month I say how impressed I am with Beauty Heroes’ brand and product selections, and at the risk of sounding like a broken record- I have to admit that yet again, I’m very impressed and excited about this month’s selection! Beauty Heroes really has consistently done a great job of showcasing the best of the best natural beauty brands and products. This month’s box features Laurel Whole Plant Organics’ Sun Damage Repair Serum as the hero and the not one, but TWO side kicks are their Honey Berry Enzyme Mask and Before and After Sun Body Oil.

Laurel Beauty Heroes

If you haven’t tried Laurel Whole Plant Organics, you’re seriously missing out! I’ve been a fan from afar for a long time. They were one of the first few natural skincare brands that I learned of after making the switch to green beauty and I was actually able to meet Laurel, the founder, last summer at A Night For Green Beauty. Not only is she lovely and very knowledgeable, but I was impressed by their careful ingredient selection. I also managed to scoop up some samples to try and after that first chance to try their products, I’ve been eager to try more of their line. Needless to say, I was elated when I found out they would be featured in the August Beauty Heroes Box. I was even more excited when I saw just what products were included and peeked at the stellar ingredients!

Sun Damage Repair Serum

Sun Damage Repair Serum

At first glance I was worried this serum would turn out to be a heavy oil, as I’ve been duped by oils parading themselves as serums a few times now. I was pleasantly surprised to find that it is indeed a true serum, that sinks right into your skin and also leaves your skin well hydrated and glowing. It can be used under your regular moisturizer or it’s hydrating enough that some could even use it as a moisturizer. I’ve been using it under my moisturizer and I’m so impressed at how quickly it absorbs into my skin and how moisturizing it is, yet it never makes my skin feel greasy (which is exactly how a serum should behave in my opinion).

Laurel Whole Plant Organics

Since Laurel Whole Plant Organics uses only high quality ingredients, sourced from organic farms within a 100 mile radius of their studio, it’s no wonder they have such a phenomenal ingredient list. In fact, this serum may have the most beneficial ingredients packed into one single serum, that I’ve ever seen. With the help of the scarlet pimpernel flower, this intensely healing serum is designed to reverse sun damage, brighten skin, strengthen collagen and even add a little more sun protection for your skin with ingredients like red raspberry seed oil, cranberry seed oil, and jojoba. Here’s a full list of their ingredients:

Honey Berry Enzyme Mask

Honey Berry Enzyme Mask

This is a sweet treat for your skin and a perfect sidekick for the repair serum. It helps to brighten skin and exfoliate for smoother, firmer skin. The formula contains organic honey, royal jelly, berries, and more. As you can imagine from the name, it smells yummy! This mask can be used twice a week.

Before and After Sun Body Oil

Before and After Sun Body Oil

Because all of your skin deserves some TLC after those beach days, Laurel’s Before and After Sun Body Oil is perfect to tote along on your summer adventures. I feel like the oil is very soothing and nourishing. It’s great for helping to protect your skin before some sunshine and it also helps restore it afterwards- as you may have guessed from the name! It works beautifully and I think it’s brilliant that they made such a healing, nourishing oil for your body.

Here comes the sun

I can’t say the words to do this month’s Hero justice. Seriously. I try a lot of skincare items and this is such a lovely serum that just melts into your face and leaves it noticeable glowing. As always, Beauty Heroes is a phenomenal deal. The Serum alone usually retails for $72.00, so to get all of this for under $40 is pretty amazing! If you want to try this month’s box, be sure to order by the 20th. I will give the disclaimer that Beauty Heroes does sell out some months, especially lately, so if you have your heart set on this box, the sooner the better! You can order here. Also, members always get 15% in the Beauty Shop– which is a great deal since it’s filled with previous months’ heroes and top notch brands. Hope everyone enjoys the final stretch of summer! xo

  1. Hi, Molly. I am so curious to hear what your opinion of my question is… I have a 4 month old that I am nursing. I just received my Beauty Heros August Box and have been dying to try this serum for awhile. However, I have heard that Comfrey (which is one of the ingredients in this serum) is contraindicated for pregnancy and nursing. I reached out to Beauty Heros regarding this. They, in turn, reached out to Laurel. And the response they gave was that Laurel considers all of her products to be compatible with nursing moms. And, furthermore, she uses the leaves of the Comfrey, and not the roots in her formulation. While I appreciate this answer, it’s hard not to just play it safe and shelve the serum for maybe next year. You are always so smart about what to use with your children and family. In addition, you are so savvy about the science and chemistry behind green beauty. What was your philosophy of what you could use while you were pregnant and/or nursing… Thank you so much for reading this!

  2. Hi Kim, Thanks so much for the kind words and for reading! As far as I know, the warnings for using comfrey during pregnancy pertain to the roots only and warn against taking it internally (some people make herbal infusions or tonics) so I would assume it’s safe. That being said, my motto during pregnancy is if I don’t feel 100% sure that it’s safe, then I skip it. While this is likely safe, there’s limited scientific info out there on it, so I would probably skip it if you feel the least bit uncomfortable. There are so many things out there that come with a warning during pregnancy and many of them may not be harmful with limited use, but you need to do what makes you sleep best at night mama! 🙂
