Axiology: Lipstick With A Mission
I’m so excited to finally share Axiology with you guys! The organic beauty line specializes in lipstick, but their story goes so far beyond the pretty and sleek tubes they’ve created. They are truly beauty without compromise, both with their ingredients and with how they give back. It’s brands like this that really drive me to keep hoping that one day most beauty brands will model after their cleaner, more ethical counterparts.
I was so excited to try Axiology’s lipsticks that I could hardly wait until I was inside my house to open the package from them. After I tore it open, I saw their beautifully chic boxes and then opened them to find the sleek gold tubes inside. Then I just stared and turned it over. I may have had a wee bit of a Zoolander moment (Oh the files are in the computer!) before it dawned on me that you just click the bottom of the tube and the lipstick pops out, very James Bond-esc. If you follow me on Instagram, I posted a video showing the packaging there. Both shades I received are gorgeous. Elusive is a richly pigmented deep red with a bit of brown and Dimension is like pure metallic bronze- such a unique and beautiful shade! Both go on smoothly and last for hours. I kid you not! These outlast most traditional lipsticks I’ve ever used and most natural ones as well. One of the days I was testing them, I applied Elusive around 1pm and most of it was still there after I finished dinner hours later. I really couldn’t believe it.
Axiology’s color selection is phenomenal and one of the most unique ones you’ll find. Check it out here. And after you’re done drooling over the colors peek at the ingredients. They are completely 100% pure. They even use sweet orange oil to natural fragrance their products. I have posted the ingredients for Elusive below as an example:
Organic Candelilla Wax, Organic Avocado Oil, Organic Castor Oil, Organic Mango Butter, Organic Avocado Butter, Organic Grape Seed Oil, Organic Coconut Oil, Vitamin E Oil, Sweet Orange Oil; May Contain: Iron Oxide, Mica, Titanium Dioxide, Manganese Violet.
Beyond these beautiful lipsticks is a brand that really has gone above and beyond in the giving back department. First, I want to share the story behind their packaging. All of Axiology’s boxes are sourced from Bali, where Founder Ericka Rodriguez found a women run paper boutique that only uses recycled paper from the island. Ericka decided to team up with them for the boxes the lipstick comes in, so each box is made from trash collected from the island and processed into recycled paper and decorated by hand. Each box helps to provide these Indonesian women with jobs and helps to clean up the growing trash problem on the island. How cool is that?
In addition to the lengths they’ve gone to in order to ethically source their packaging, they also have gone to great lengths to spread awareness about the devastating effects that over use of palm oil has had on the Orangutan population. Axiology is not only palm oil free in it’s formulation, but they also give some proceeds to the Orangutan Foundation and advocates on their behalf. In my package they even included additional information on how to avoid palm oil in your products (just for clarification, palm oil is not toxic, the way it is being harvested is the issue). You can find out more at Orangutan.org.
Ready to try one of their fun colors yet? I have a couple more I’ve been eyeing! xo
What a beautiful lipstick and packaging. I’m eyeing the shade Fundamental.
That is such a pretty shade! You will have to share if you have a chance to try it. I’d love to see it on!!
