February Beauty Heroes

‘Tis the month of hearts, roses and all things pink and red. Beauty Heroes followed suit with a beautiful and sensual hero for February’s box. They’ve teamed up with BeautyCounter to feature a full size Lustro Rose Neroli Body Oil (I know, heaven in a bottle) and as a side kick, their Lip Sheer in Petal. Surprised about who they’ve teamed up this month? Turns out this brand is a perfect fit.

BeautyCounter isn’t strictly organic or all natural and they make sure not to advertise themselves as such. However, they are a much safer option to conventional products and they’ve gone the extra mile (or 1,000 miles) in promoting consumer awareness about product ingredients and the lack of regulation. Lots of women I know I have been to a BeautyCounter party and for many, it was the first they’ve heard of products containing unsafe ingredients at very unsafe amounts and discovered that their is really no regulation in the personal products industry. Not only do they have their reps on the street spreading the message, the company itself has taken up the issue with Washington and is actively fighting for more regulations within the beauty industry. Safer products plus ingredient awareness? I’d say they fall right along the lines of Beauty Heroes’ mission.

Here is where I give the disclaimer that I don’t love every ingredient they use, but overall I think they’re doing a pretty good job. My biggest beef is with Phenoxyethanol, but there are a few other offenders I typically avoid in a few of their products. That being said, they are doing more things right than most companies. There’s a long list of ingredients that are known to be harmful that they not only avoid, but they make sure to educate their customers about too. So onto the beautiful and appropriately timed products in this month’s box!

The Hero: Lustro Rose Neroli Body Oil is truly a gorgeous product inside and out. The elegant glass bottle houses a gorgeously scented oil that sinks right into skin. It’s more of a dry oil, meaning it goes on without leaving an oily layer on your skin. The light oil almost vanishes as soon as you apply it. The scent is truly gorgeous. It’s feminine, deep and just sensual enough.

The Sidekick: BeautyCounter Lip Sheer in Petal is actually a product I already own! I love the light nude/pink color that’s suitable for anyone and I love how moisturizing their Lip Sheers are. Not to mention, the packaging is really chic. Something you’d be proud to keep out on your vanity.
