Is It Worth The Money?

Holding Leahlani's Mermaid Mask

As a huge advocate for green beauty, I’ve sung it’s praises and reviewed countless products to show you natural can work just as well, if not better, than conventional. But honestly, there’s been something weighing on me for a while now. With more and more exorbitant price tags popping up in the green beauty world, is it worth the money? Sure, fair trade ingredients and plants grown with beyond organic standards means the ingredients themselves cost a fair amount more than the typical fillers and less active ingredients found in conventional products. That being said, do I really want to drop $300 on a face oil? Nope. And while it’s one thing to use higher quality ingredients, you lose me when you start saying things like “The flowers were picked in the still of early morning with dew drops still on the leaves” and then slap on an over the top price tag. Gonna be honest, I really don’t care what time of day the ingredients were harvested or how quiet it was outside..

That’s not to say it’s bad to splurge on yourself every once in a while, either though. I do get reader questions about luxury brands and products. I mean, if you’re going to drop $300 bucks on something, you probably want to read a review or two. So I do think these higher priced products and reviews of them have their place.. Mostly. But the products that give me the most satisfaction are the ones that are priced well and perform phenomenally. These aren’t budget products really, but instead these are products that to me are fairly priced for what you get and I have no problem repurchasing these items over and over again.

Worth The Money

Vital Balm Cream

Josh Rosebrook Vital Balm Cream

Have I talked about this product enough yet? Vital Balm Cream became a fast favorite because of the whipped (almost fluffy) texture and the lasting moisture it gives. You can read my full review here. I’m already on my second jar and can’t wait to apply this every night. It’s one of the best natural moisturizers I’ve tried. For $45 I have to say you’re getting what you pay for with top notch ingredients that heal, treat and moisturize skin.

Holding Leahlani's Mermaid Mask

Leahlani Mermaid Mask

I could easily argue that all of Leahlani’s products are worth the money since they all have a way of transporting you to Hawaii minus the cost of a plane ticket, but the Mermaid Mask takes the cake. There’s a reason why it’s everyone’s favorite. There are so many great ingredients packed into this one mask that somehow manages to be soothing, healing, skin clearing, brightening and more. It’s truly a mask for all skin types and that doesn’t come along often. For $38 this mask is a very worthwhile pick-up!

Agent Nateur

Agent Nateur Holi (Rose) N4 Deodorant

This is the most expensive deodorant I’ve ever purchased and I don’t regret it one bit. After trying countless natural deodorants that left me smelling terrible by midday, this is literally a breath of fresh (rose scented) air. It smells so gorgeous and lasts for 24 hours on me. Even after working out or being outside on a hot day, I still smell like roses. Holi (Rose) is a miracle product for me and I’m done with deodorants that leave me not so fresh. I previously reviewed this and said that though I liked it, I was having issue with the baking soda since my skin is sensitive to baking soda. Since then I’ve figured out I can get away with using it as along as I don’t apply it within several hours after shaving. Not a big deal for me since I end up showering and shaving at night a lot. For $26 it’s a splurge, but still well worth it if you’re looking for a natural deodorant that works! You can also save 10% off of it with code Maisonpur at this store.

The Super Couple

Maya Chia The Super Couple

You can read a full review here, but this is still my favorite face oil. It’s packed with antioxidants and some of the best ingredients known to be beneficial for skin. I love how nicely it absorbs in and how hydrated and smooth my skin feels when I use it. The Super Couple is addictive with it’s coral color and lovely scent- a very luxurious feeling product! For $85 it’s actually quite well priced for a quality face oil. Beauty Heroes members can save 15% ordering it through their Beauty Store, but non-members can order it at full price. This product is one I continually keep on my vanity!

Vapour Stratus

Vapour Stratus Luminous Skin Perfecting Primer

I can’t leave home without this, even on no-makeup days. This primer works under makeup or on it’s own to smooth skin and blur out large pores, fine lines, blemishes, scars and more. I’ve used it everyday for a couple of years now and it’s one makeup item I wouldn’t dare swap out. Some people have said it’s like a filter but for real life. It’s one of the pricier makeup items in my kit at $48, but one that’s well worth the money for this tired mama! You can also save 10% of this item if you use code Maisonpur here.

See any favorites in this list? I’m always curious to hear what some of your favorites are and what products you think are worth the money! xo

  1. These are all so good! I just got my Vapour Skin Perfecting Primer (stick form – I used to have the liquid one!) and I can’t wait to use it!!

  2. I just go The super couple for Christmas and I’m so happy I did and that it’s included in this list!! The mermaid mask is another favorite. I love this post! Please do more!

  3. I always wanted to try the Leahlani mermaid mask, but I couldn’t because it has honey. I only shop vegan so I was so happy to discover Athar’a Pure products. They have a vegan mermaid mask that I love, their eye cream and Neem oil, they’re all great products that I’m so glad I discovered. If the primer you listed is vegan, I’ll definitely be checking that one out too!

  4. Oh yes, that is a bummer about the honey. I believe Leahlani sources it from small, local bee farms that take pride in caring for their bees, although I totally understand if you still may want to avoid that being vegan. I just checked the Vapour primer and it contains carmine. I haven’t found a ton of natural primers I like, otherwise I’d try to suggest a vegan one to you. Sorry xx

  5. Love this post (and your blog which I discovered this morning and have been reading all day). I am new to green beauty/green living, started transitioning my products last summer, and love reading more about this realm of skin care, makeup, and home products slowly, doing as much research as I can, and finding the right balance for my season of life and budget. I love this post because you included two of my favorites, Leahlani mermaid mask, and the Agent Nateur deodorant. I have had to attempt to strike a balance between performance, some higher end products that my sensitive skin really loves, and more budget friendly products that are non toxic but maybe not completely organic. I appreciate this post, and would love more like it about what is worth splurging on, but also sharing products (like the mermaid mask) that are very reasonably priced for the quality of the product. Thanks for an informational Sunday of reading with your lovely blog!

  6. Hi Danielle,

Thank you so much for taking the time to read through my blog. I’m so happy this post was helpful to you! I’m planning to do some more of these in the future! xo
