On My Mind: Summertime Edition
It’s been awhile since my last On My Mind post, and I definitely have a lot on my mind. This summer has brought some great things and some stressful things, and both have resulted in a shortage of time for me to get anything done. I haven’t been blogging much this summer, but hopefully things will be back to normal soon. In the meantime, we’ve been getting settled into our new house (we moved in about a month ago) and nursing most the family back to health since within a week and a half after moving in, both kids had fevers, my husband had to unexpectedly have surgery (he’s recovering well) and Frankie couldn’t walk. For the record Frankie’s fine. It’s a bone disorder called shifting lameness disorder, that should go away once he’s done growing. For now, anti-inflammatories nip it in the bud whenever it pops up. All that being said, I discovered that 4 patients is definitely my max to take care of at once. I’ve been living off of way too much caffeine and not enough sleep, so I’m eager to get back to some sense of routine soon. Kindergarten is just a couple of weeks away (insert crying emoji), so we will have to get back on track one way or another.. So on to the good stuff, like products I’ve been loving, some fun new launches and what else has been going on this crazy summer!
First, I have to give a shout out to my friend and fellow blogger, Lauren of Free Love Beauty, who just launched her own gorgeous products. She is such sweet spirit and is not only gorgeous and so boho-glam, but she also happens to be an esthetician. She took her skincare knowledge and Boho-glam style and created her own products which are totally swoon-worthy. Lauren and I started blogging around the same time and have enjoyed watching each other grow. I couldn’t be prouder for her new launch and I was thrilled to be able to try the products for myself! She offers Sunchild Illuminating Oil and Moonchild Restorative oil. Both products are multi-use and can be applied to your skin, hair, or nails. Sunchild is a gorgeous, shimmering oil that adds a gentle glow (I can’t get over the golden color!) and Moonchild is full of beneficial ingredients that help restore moisture to your skin or hair. Both are made with organic oils. You can find them over on Lauren’s site.
Next up is a daily staple. I’ve been searching for an all-natural toothpaste that I like for what seems like forever, so I’m really happy to report that I’ve finally found a winner that even my husband is loving. Davids really cleans teeth and leaves them minty fresh without any sketchy ingredients and of course, it’s flouride-free. Davids fit the bill ingredient-wise for me, but more than that, I was drawn to their packaging. It’s definitely aesthetically pleasing and their metal tube is completely recyclable (no-plastic is always a win!). The toothpaste even comes with a clever little tube key so you can easily get all the toothpaste out. Another point that won me over is that Davids is made in the USA with 98% of their ingredients sourced domestically. After some research, I’m really impressed that Davids goes out of their way to use the best quality ingredients they can. For instance, Davids uses a domestic, premium mint oil, while most companies import lower grade oils from places like China- and you can definitely taste a difference. Also, they use high quality xylitol derived from the sap of birch trees (instead of lower quality xylitol from beets) as a sweetener and it’s been shown to help remineralize teeth. overall, I’m loving everything about this brand. If you want to give them a try, use code maisonpur for 20% off until 9/2. Stay tuned, because I’ve teamed up with Davids for something fun on Instagram tomorrow!
I shared previously about the recently launched The Peridot Mag, an online natural living magazine that cover so many areas from healthy beauty to natural lifestyle choices. Well I was honored to be able to contribute a piece last month with my friend Suzi! We teamed up to write about being a green mom from pregnancy to school age and shared what we’ve learned along the way. It was such a fun piece to write with Suzi! I absolutely love what The Peridot Mag is doing so be sure to check them out. So many great tips and recipes!
Speaking of new site launches, Teri Miyahira just relaunched her site (Terimiyahira.com) in a new format and will be sharing so much great info on a daily basis. I’m so excited for everything Teri has going on and I’m thrilled to announce I’ll be contributing there! Keep your eye on her new site for green beauty, natural living, wellness, and more inspiring topics.
And one more launch that I couldn’t not share with you guys: A blogger who I absolutely love and who also brings so much sense of community to the Green Beauty world has recently relaunched her site- Sarita Coren| The Hub Of Clean Living. If you don’t already follow Sarita, then you’re missing out on her passion and wisdom about healthy beauty and living naturally. I’m excited for this next chapter for her!
I’m headed to NYC next week for iBE and can’t wait to meet some of you there! Hope you all have a fabulous week! xoxo
Once again, a great post! Thank you for sharing
