Pills vs. Oils

Let’s talk essential oils. If you’re like me, it’s something you’ve read about here and there but never really took the time to delve into. Until recently, the extent of my essential oil collection was limited to my beloved Tata Harper Aromatic Bedtime Treatment and Zoe Organics Refresh Oil. Both of which I love and use ALL the time. Especially the Tata Harper Bedtime Treatment. They work so well that I started thinking maybe I should explore this world a bit more!

A couple weeks ago I watched a webinar by Lacey Grim (you can find her at @gremlinaofschoolhousefarm on Instagram) about making over your medicine cabinet with essential oils instead of pills. She went through each ailment and what oil remedies that particular issue. You can find the video here. I was so intrigued! The first order of business was finding something for Annabelle’s teething. She has just been a horrendous teether, bless her heart. I swear I never even knew my son was getting a tooth until it popped through and used to wonder what the big deal was (seriously, I know. I hate me too. He slept through the night at 8 weeks! Man, he did not prepare us for the little tornado that is Annabelle). Anyways, Annabelle sounds the teething alarm at least a month out and I really hate pumping her full of tylenol and advil, but I also hate her being in pain- and not to mention the sleepless nights. So Lacey sent me a sample of White Fir. She also sent balance (for anxiety/stress) and Digest-Zen. At the risk of sounding 80 years old, I get terrible heart burn since my pregnancies. So far so good on all of these!

So about my favorites.. I’ve meaning to do a review on these babies for a while! My happy little duo turned into a trio yesterday when I received La Bella Figura’s Travel Therapy. It was love at first sniff! So here’s the family:

Tata Harper Aromatic Bedtime Treatment: Ah-Mazing. My hubby calls this my night time perfume because I put it on religiously before bed and it smells sooooo good. It really is relaxing and I drift right off to sleep usually. It’s hard to describe the scent- a little floral and spicy with some citrus mixed in. It contains ingredients like Melissa Oils (known to be calming), lavender, Clary Sage and Mandarin. I highly recommend!

Buy it here Cost: $60

Zoe Organics Refresh Oil: A must have. This is my go-to for a quick afternoon pick me up, headaches, nausea, and more. The blend includes ginger, peppermint, lime, and spearmint. It’s an instant perk up! I recommend this for morning sickness, but this is a staple for anyone to keep in the cabinet (or purse!).

Buy it here Cost: $12

La Bella Figura Travel Therapy (Botanical Mood Booster): The newest addition but an instant winner. This blend of Blue Tansy, Italian Blood Orange, Rose and other therapeutic oils smells absolutely divine. Its like a spicy floral scent. I opened it immediately when I received it and it gave me an instant perk up after a stressful morning.

Buy it here Cost: $50

I would really LOVE to get an oil diffuser also and find some great oils to diffuse in the house or at night (maybe lavender in Annabelle’s room, wink wink). Any recommendations? xoxo

  1. I’m so glad the oils seem to be helping you. They rarely let us down! Diffusing would be a great idea to help Annabelle sleep. doTERRA has a few diffusers that I love, the Petal and Aromalite, I like buying from them because the prices are fair, and then should anything go wrong I have doTERRA’s amazing customer service to deal with, instead of some other random company. My sleepy oils are cedarwood, lavender & Serenity (calming blend). I might also have to whip up some things like the Zoe oil and bedtime treatment. They sound delightful!

  2. Lacey, Thanks for the diffuser recommendations and for all of the information! I’m so excited to learn more about all of the oils and start incorporating them into our routines.

  3. Great review! You sold me on Tata Harper’s bedtime treatment. I’ve been having trouble sleeping despite spritzing some Lavender EO on my pillow. LBF Travel Therapy has been on my wishlist for a long time, so I’d love to give it a try. I’d also intrigued by Hope Gillerman’s products. I enjoy using Neroli, Eucalyptus, and Lemongrass (eucalyptus at night, because it’s a great decongestant and analgesic. xx

  4. Liz,
I definitely have trouble getting to sleep sometimes too and Tata’s Bedtime Treatment has been awesome. You’ll have to let me know how you like it if you get it! Thanks also for the recommendations for the oils. Eucalyptus would be great for my husband at night since he has terrible allergies. I will have to give it a try when I finally pull the trigger on a diffuser 😉 xo
