RiseWell Toothpaste Review

There are many natural toothpaste brands to choose from, but only one has won me over completely. In fact, it’s the only toothpaste brand our family has used for the last 3+ years! It works well, taste great, and even reversed a small cavity I had (wait, what??? I know! More on that in a minute). So what is this magical brand? I will tell you all about it in my RiseWell Toothpaste review!

What Makes RiseWell Toothpaste Different?

The biggest difference you’ll find is that they use Hydroxyapatite in it and it truly is an all star for teeth.

Most natural toothpaste brands are fluoride free and for good reason. Not only does fluoride have a list of known side effects and potential health hazards, there’s more. It’s also toxic to humans in certain amounts and research has shown it can impact kids’ IQ levels when exposed to slightly higher levels in utero.

So while most natural toothpastes go without tooth strengthening ingredients, I highly prefer going with one that uses Hydroxyapatite (or HAp for short).

Benefits of Hydroxyapatite:

  • Remineralizes teeth
  • Rebuilds tooth structure
  • Strengthens teeth & prevents decay
  • Can shrink cavities (known as caries in many research documents)
  • Studies show it may help with tooth sensitivity
  • Non-toxic
  • Decades of safety research & no know side effects
  • May improve gum health, according to early studies

I don’t want to nerd out too hard on the HAp, but I do want to touch on the cavity shrinkage and possible reversal. Because I know that sounds mind blowing! I go into a lot more detail about this in my podcast interview with a pediatric functional dentist. But the short scoop is that smaller cavities can absolutely be reversed and any size cavity can potential shrink, but there are many factors that goes into it, so it’s best to work with a professional.

In my case, I had a very small cavity on a couple of X-rays that reversed after a few months of using RiseWell. My dentist explained that it was likely small enough to allow the HAp to rebuild the tooth structure.

Okay, enough nerdy stuff. On to the toothpaste!

RiseWell Toothpaste

I’ve talked a lot about one ingredient in particular, but the rest of the ingredients in the toothpaste are also good and meet my ingredient safety standards. Also, it doesn’t include any of the common culprits that can harm your oral microbiome.

Wild Mint Toothpaste

This has a sort of sweet, subtle mint flavor instead of a strong or even spicier mint flavor that some toothpastes have. I think this would be a good flavor for kids or adults. The consistency is a little thinner than traditional toothpastes, but it still spreads on teeth similarly and cleans really well.

Cake Batter Toothpaste

This is the kids version and in addition to the fun packaging, it also has a fun flavor. The kids describe it as sweet with a little vanilla. Annabelle says it has a lot of flavor but GOOD flavor. This has the same consistency as the adult version. I like that the lid on this is easier for kids to use.

Floss with HAp

I love this floss! It may be the best floss I’ve ever used. The texture is soft but scrubby and really gets your teeth cleans and grabs anything caught in between. It’s also an added bonus that this also has HAp to help protect your teeth.

They also make a mouthwash, but all of the functional + holistic dentists I’ve interviewed and/or spoken with don’t recommend using mouthwash. Therefore, we don’t use it and I can’t speak to it.

PRICE- yes it’s pricey. At $10-12 a tube you can’t really compare it price-wise to toothpaste you might grab at the drug store. As someone who had plenty of cavities as a kid and the dental bills to go with it (hey, Gushers were a big thing back when I was a kid), I can appreciate paying more on the front end to save money and dental procedures later. I wish there was a more affordable option with hydroxyapatite, but there’s not.

Good news though, code MAISONPUR10 will save 10% on their site. We have it set up as a subscription, which is cheaper, but you can buy it without subscribing if you want to test it out.

Out of all of the natural toothpastes I’ve tried RiseWell has definitely become our favorite for performance and all of it’s benefits! Have you tried RiseWell yet?
