Save vs. Splurge

Thanks to all of the wonderful new products being released this Spring and some of my blogger friends enabling me reviewing some amazing products, once again I’ve found myself with a wish list longer than I care to admit! Before my champagne tastes overtake my entire beauty budget, it seems like a good idea to do another edition of Splurge vs. Save! I included a lot of products that I use regularly. Some products are definitely worth the splurge, but it’s always nice to have some more moderately priced options to balance everything out and I can give you the low down on what’s worth the money and how their cheaper counterparts stack up!

Tinted Moisturizer with SPF

Suntegrity5in1TintedFaceSunscreen-500x500

Suntegrity 5-in-1 has been my go-to for a while. I’ve tried some similar products but none of the other brands stacked up- it’s hard to beat Suntegrity’s coverage. It evens out my skin tone nicely and also acts as a primer for my makeup. They also offer several different shades and I feel like they blend in pretty seamlessly. Buy it here. Cost $45

100-percent-pure-fruit-pigminted-tinted-moisturizers-white-peach_large

100% Pure’s tinted moisturizer comes in as a close second for me. It gives slightly less coverage and goes on a little thinner- which actually makes it a little easier to apply than Suntegrity. If you like more sheer coverage then this one’s for you. I can’t part with the coverage Suntegrity provides so I’m sticking with it even though 100% Pure’s version is slightly less. Buy it here. Cost $35

Brow Filler

jane iredale bitty brow

Jane Iredale Bitty Brow Kit comes with a powder brow filler and setting wax, along with a little brush and spooly to brush everything into place. Jane Iredale is known for making some gorgeous, all natural makeup and this kit gets high ratings just like the rest of their makeup! It has everything you need to perfectly groom your brows. Buy it here. Cost $29

lily-lolo-eye-brow-duo-_1_1

Lily Lolo makes some seriously lust-worthy makeup and their prices are pretty great. Their Eyebrow Duo includes a powder brow filler and setting wax. It doesn’t include a spooly or brush like Jane Iredale’s but you can pick up one of those from Target for just a few dollars. I also love that they offer 3 different shades, whereas Jane Iredale only offers 2. At half the price, this one is definitely my top pick. Buy it here. Cost $15

AHA Face Mask

Tata Harper Resurfacing Mask

Tata Harper Resurfacing Mask is a staple for me. I love the smooth, dewy glow it immediately gives my skin- something that’s hard to beat. Another plus is that it goes on clear, making this hands down my least scary mask. Besides looking a bit shiny, you can’t even tell I have it on. Buy it here. Cost $55

pumpkin-honey-glycolic-mask-pair

If I ever couldn’t spring for my beloved Tata mask- I would definitely jump on Andalou Natural’s Pumpkin Honey Glycolic Mask. The price is amazing and so are the ingredients. Manuka Honey, organic pumpkin, and citrus glycolic AHA are all great for exfoliating your top layer and leaving you with brighter skin. In fact, I may just give this one a try next time I run out of my Resurfacing Mask. Buy it here. Cost $11.95

Hydrating Mist

125ml_hydratingfloralessence

Another Tata Harper splurge! The Hydrating Floral Essence is packed full of hyaluronic acid and hydrosols to keep skin plump and moisturized. Easy to mist on all throughout the day to keep skin hydrated. I will say, no matter how amazing Tata’s products are- I do feel the price is a bit steep for this. Although it certainly works well and comes gorgeously packaged. Buy it here. Cost $85

Silkka Apothecary hand-crafts absolutely beautiful products using only the most natural ingredients. A few months back they released their Blossom Hydration Mist containing Magnolia floral water, aloe vera, and Chamomile. The perfect combination to hydrate and calm your skin. Buy it here. Cost $12.40 (**No longer available, but see similar here)

Honey Cleansers

honeymud

May Lindstrom’s Honey Mud is definitely a cult classic. A gentle and silky cleanser that’s full of enzymes that becomes a treat for your skin. You can use it as a mask by massaging it on and leaving it for 10-15 minutes before washing it off. Buy it here. Cost $80

Leahlani Honey Love is another cult classic and for good reason. Not only is this packed with raw Hawaiian honey, vitamins and essential oils, it also contains corundum microdermabrasion crystals to exfoliate your skin. I am absolutely in love with this product! It can be used as a cleanser, exfoliator, or even a mask. The corundum crystals settle to the bottom so you can control the amount of exfoliation by how much you stir it up. I usually give it a good stir and gently apply as a mask. After 15 minutes or so, I gently massage it in to get the exfoliation effect and then rinse it off to find glowing skin! Buy it here. Cost $18 (**Update: packaging and pricing has changed, but it’s still a more affordable option)

No matter the size of your wallet, there really are natural beauty options for everyone. With so many luxe products out there, it’s nice to balance it out a bit. You can see my last Save vs. Splurge post here. xoxo

  1. I tried a sample of the TH mask and wasn’t blown away – perhaps I need to revisit it. But Andalou is also much easier to get hold of over here now, so perhaps I’ll save my wallet and try that first! x

  2. Yes, that’s much more easy on the wallet than the TH and it always gets good reviews! I think it’s worth a shot. Thanks for reading!! xo

  3. Jana,
You have got to try Honey Love! It’s one of my all time favorites 🙂

  4. Thanks Nora! Yes you have to try something from Leahlani! I honestly just adore all of her products. They’re all very suitable for any skin type. Thanks for reading! xoxo
