Solara Suncare Review
I’m so excited to share my Solara Suncare review with you guys! When it comes to switching to healthier personal care products, you know that sunscreen ranks pretty high priority on the list of things to find a better swap for. But if you’ve ever tried to find a cleaner sunscreen swap then you know some of the struggles (hello chalky texture and pasty, white cast!).
Luckily I’ve found a few favorites in this category over the years but I’m always happy to discover another high-quality, squeaky clean sunscreen brand. So, thanks to lots of time at home and warm, sunny weather the last several weeks, I’ve spent some time testing out Solara Suncare and knew right away it was a special brand that I needed to share it with you!

Solara Suncare Review
Glow Getter Nutrient Boosted Daily Sunscreen $32
They call it a wake-up smoothie for your skin because it tones, illuminates, and hydrates your skin. Not your average sunscreen, right? It includes a mix of sacred lotus, green coffee, responsibly sourced mica, and their 10-active PlantDFNS.
It does have mica but it’s very subtle. There’s really no discernable shimmer, just almost a highlight effect that makes skin look hydrated and glowy. It applies well- I’ve found it best to shake or knead the product first. Once I rub it in thoroughly there’s not a noticeable white cast but if I don’t rub it in I can slightly see one.
It seems to be long-lasting and I love how hydrated it makes my skin look and feel. Also, it’s naturally scented with plant extracts.
Clean Freak Nutrient Boosted Daily Sunscreen $28+
This one is very similar to the Glow Getter but minus the mica and extra toning ingredients, so it’s perfect for the whole family. Just like the one above, I recommend shaking or kneading the tube first and then thoroughly rubbing it in to avoid a white cast.
I also love the nice beachy, slightly fruity scent made from plant extracts. It hydrates skin without leaving any greasiness behind (another problem which plagues most mineral sunscreens!).
Time Traveler Ageless Daily Face Sunscreen $42
This one’s perfect for beach days or for daily use, since it layers really well under makeup. It’s not greasy at all and absorbs in quickly, so it leaves you with the perfect base for applying makeup. Plus, it’s unscented.
It protects your face with clean, supercharged ingredients to help address past photodamage and plump the appearance of fine lines while also helping to prevent future damage from the sun, digital and environmental aggressors. Like the other products, this contains their signature PlantDFNS as well as copper, probiotic-inspired peptides, and ceramides.
Pout Protector Moisturizing Lip Serum $16
The lightweight gloss protects lips from the sun and other environmental damage and also has skin-nourishing ingredients. This was the only product from Solara Suncare that I had an issue with the white cast. It was much harder to rub it in enough so I couldn’t see it. I did apply it over some lip colors to solve the problem (while it did slightly change the color, it was less obvious than on my lips alone). That said, the performance seems to be pretty good and as someone who has had a sunburn on their lips before (really not fun) I’ll probably continue wearing it through the summer when I’ll be in the sun all day.
You are the second person to recommend this line and I am so encouraged that you both said that it doesn’t turn your skin white. So very happy to hear this! Thanks for the review.
Hi Annette! I was so happy to find it actually is more sheer than some other versions. It has a different feel and I think it’s due to it being a water-based formula rather than an oil-based one like most. Thanks for reading!
