Sometimes All You Need Is A Mask

As much as I love my skincare products, there’s truly nothing like a good mask to quickly turn your skin around. I have a handful of favorites that I look to time and time again to solve everything from breakouts to dull skin to puffiness. Taking a look at your skin and understanding what it needs before you select which mask to use is the best way to make the most out of your mask time and actually help your skin. That may sound obvious, but I have a lot of readers say that they don’t even know where to start with masking and even I have to admit, I had no rhyme or reason to which mask I chose when I was younger. I think I would randomly pick one to use and then pat myself on the back for taking such great care of my skin, even though I may have been making things worse at times. Thankfully for my skin, these days I’ve got some great masks that help solve any issues that pop up and I know how to use them!

Favorite Natural Face Masks

True Botanicals Resurfacing Moisture Mask

True Botanicals Face Mask

What it does: Exfoliates and hydrates. Leaves your skin smooth and glowing.

I probably use this mask the most often out of all my masks and it’s because of the almost instant gratification, to be honest. This mask is super quick- like 2 to 5 minutes quick! It contains alpha-hydroxy acid, vitamin rich avocado butter, and the super antioxidant astaxanthin, which all work to together to get your skin very smooth and very hydrated. This is my go-to for an instant glow.

Leahlani Meli Glow

Meli Glow

What it does: Gently exfoliates and nourishes skin. Leaves your skin glowing.

I love all of Leahlani’s masks, but Meli Glow became a quick favorite. Like the mask above, this is designed to help give your skin that glow, but Meli is so very gentle. I can even use it right before I’m about to go out without worrying about having residual redness or irritation from the exfoliation. It’s also relatively quick. Just 5 to 15 minutes and your skin will be nourished and glowing. Raw honey, wildcrafted fruits, clay, vitamin packed oils and more make this mask more of a treatment than a mask. Like all of Leahlani’s products, it delivers while giving your skin some TLC.

Leahlani Kokoleka

What it does: Helps to clear your complexion and banish breakouts without drying out your skin.

Kokoleka is the Hawaiian word for chocolate and a very accurate description of this delicious smelling mask. It’s great for oily, breakout prone or combination skin. I’m combination and when I see my T-zone getting a little too feisty, this is my go to. I do have some truly dry areas, so I love that this still manages to nourish my skin while it’s cleaning out my pores. It’s very gentle (and hard not to want to taste it!).

Josh Rosebrook Cacao Antioxidant Face Mask

What it does: Exfoliates, improves skin tone, and nourishes skin.

In a weird way this mask is almost a combination of all of the above masks in the results it gives, except that this is what I would call slow beauty. This is a mask you want to leave on for a good while and really let it work it’s magic. I usually leave it on for at least 30 minutes, but the directions say you can leave it on even longer. As per the name, it does have some chocolatey goodness and almost feels like you’re spreading fudge on your face. But this is no light weight mask. It’s packed with some of the best skin ingredients you can find and really does leave your skin super nourished. I don’t always have time for this one, but it’s nice for when I want to bring my skin back to glowing and solve any breakouts or other issues that have popped up.

100% Pure Caffeine Mask

100% Pure caffeine mask

What it does: Work miracles. Instant hydration and puffiness reducer. Will make you look like a new person after a rough night.

I love 100% Pure’s Caffeine Mask and always have some on hand. It’s a hydrogel sheet mask and I won’t lie.. It will make you look like Hannibal Lecter, BUT I promise you it will be worth it. I’m very prone to puffiness and everything from lack of sleep to eating certain foods will make me wake up with bags and all over puffiness. This mask seriously gets rid of puffiness fast and makes fine lines disappear, while leaving your skin soft and very hydrated. I always use one before a big event (or after a night out). They come in packs of 5 or you can buy them individually. Either way, 100% Pure’s site offers free shipping.

Leahlani Mermaid Mask

What it does: Everything.

You didn’t think I’d leave this little emerald green gem off the list did you? This is a long time favorite and a go-to for when my skin just needs something and I can’t tell what. It’s gentle, packed with vitamins, and full of organic ingredients like raw Hawaiian honey, Hawaiian Spirulina, Chlorella and more. It truly is a super food for your skin and treats everything from breakouts to dry, dull skin. It has a great price and works for all skin types. If you’re new to masking, this would be a great entry into the masking world.

Favorite Natural Face Masks

These are my top favorites, but I want to hear yours! Is there one you can’t live without? Also, if I missed any skin concerns you want a mask for, let me know. I guarantee I’ve probably tried a mask for that and can recommend one. xo

  1. Love that Leahlani mask bowl. I’ve had my eye on the May Lindstrom Skin set but I am liking the white…hmm. Thanks for the review! I’ve only tried the kokoleka but now I also need to try the mermaid! My favorite masks are The Honey Mud and Problem Solver by MLS :-).
