Splurge Skincare: Everyday Indulgence
Sometimes you just know immediately that you’re going to get along great with somebody- or in this case, something (a brand of very natural skincare products to be specific). Splurge had me at hello for two reasons. First, they’re from my hometown, Boston and second, I truly love their name and their motto. It’s definitely an indulgence to go the extra mile and use delicious body scrubs and rich balms on a daily basis, but it’s something that’s worth incorporating. Taking good care of your skin not only helps it to look and feel better, and it goes without saying how relaxing and mood boasting it can be to treat yo’ self on a regular basis. This is exactly how the founders of Splurge feel: Why wait for a special occasion to treat yourself well, when you should be doing it everyday?
The Rub Body Scrub was the first product I tried and it did not disappoint. I’ve tried a lot of body scrubs through the years and I always think, how will this be different? For starters, I love the almond scent. I really love all almond scented things but I don’t often come across them. They also offer it in a few other scents like Lemon, Peppermint and some limited release versions. This is a sugar scrub with a lot of rich oils and it leaves my skin so soft! I almost don’t need to use a moisturizer after using the scrub. The most impressive part is how well it holds together while you’re using it. It doesn’t immediately dissolve into an oily mess, but instead stays solid enough that you can actually rub it onto your skin. It also doesn’t leave a mess in the shower or bath. I’m going to be honest, that’s probably the biggest reason I don’t use a body scrub on a regular basis. I hate leaving the shower greasy (because probably my husband would slip and injure himself and we all know how guys are when they get hurt: man flu) and because my OCD self really doesn’t like when there’s weird granules left all over the shower or bath. This scrub solves both problems for me and actually works. Win win!
Melted Buttah– I actually laughed out loud at the name of this. We have a running joke at my parent’s house about my mom’s love of butter- or “buttah” as she (who lived in Boston the first 38 years of her life) always calls it. She puts butter on absolutely everything. She even used to load it on rice cakes during the Tab and rice cake diet fad back in the eighties.. Not really sure that diet worked out for her. Anyways, anytime my brother and I see her in the kitchen we always look at each other a whisper “Buttah!” and then die laughing. Beyond the name resonating with me, I truly have enjoyed using this balm. It can be used as a more intensive lip treatment or anywhere you have a little dry patch or just need some extra moisture. It’s a balm but very solid in texture and really moisturizing. It makes for a great nighttime lip treatment!
The Lip Buttah‘s have also become a fast favorite. I have the Lemon, which smells and tastes delicious, and also the tinted Lip Buttah in the shade ‘In Love’. It gives a nice subtly color that works well for when I don’t want to put on a real shade but still want my lips to look a little more alive. The twist up tubes make these so handy to use anytime, anywhere. I keep one in my purse and one in my bathroom.
The Founders of Splurge, Christine Cunningham and Kara Kivi, have been generous enough to offer a discount code for those who want to add some everyday indulgence into their routine. Use code Springsplurge at checkout for 20% off your total purchase. They’re also both teachers so I’ve proof read this like 5 times now. An A for effort right??
This brand sounds like it has some lovely gems! They’re now on my radar.
