Vitamins, Moisture And A Splash Of Pineapple
You may remember a little while back when I posted about my sudden routine change for winter. My skin had just turned into a disaster overnight as the cold set in so quickly this year. Normally my skin is oily/combination but with the sudden frosty temps and non-stop heat running, it quickly became a dried up mess that was still break-out prone. The best of both worlds, right? My skin is pretty sensitive too, so I always cringe a bit when I need to switch up my skincare routine- especially this time when my skin was behaving so differently altogether. Well long story short, I found some products that just worked wonders on my overly dry skin, including the little miracle named Elizabeth Dehn for One Love Organics Cleansing Oil.
Now before you decide to turn and run (because who washes their face with oil, right?), let me just say this WILL NOT break you out. I know it seems counter intuitive to wash oily or breakout prone skin with oil but I promise it will be the best thing that’s happened to your skin. The thing about oil is that the more you strip off of your face with soaps, the more your skin will produce. Sometimes over-washing can even cause imbalances that make your skin produce way more than you need to counter the effect of you stripping the oil away. Makes sense, right? Even with having dry skin these past few months, I’ve benefitted from cleansing with oil since I’m keeping my skin’s natural oil barrier in tact. In fact, I don’t think I could go back to using soap on my face again after seeing how well it’s done with this.
So the first thing I noticed when I used the cleansing oil was how well it removed my makeup. You can actually use it as just a makeup remover by using a cotton pad but I don’t see the need since cleansing with it also removes your makeup. Following the directions, I generally use one pump and massage it into my skin for maybe 30 seconds and then rinse it off. It took me week to stop wetting my face first before I used it! Old habits die hard as the say, but you need to start with dry skin for best results. It’s so gentle on my skin and I’ve seen such a huge improvement with my skin’s moisture level since using this- even when I’ve switched up serums and moisturizers. And can we discuss how amazingly delicious it smells? Like pineapples mixed with some other sweet fruit. It’s not overwhelming but just enough to bring a little tropical sweetness to you each time you cleanse with it. Honestly, One Love Organics may have the best smelling skincare products out there. I have yet to meet one that I didn’t want to pretty much just stand there and huff.
I’ve been using it for almost 2 months and still have a ton left. I’ve maybe used a fourth of it (although in fairness, I generally just use this at night and only splash water on my face in the morning). In my book, this is on the pricey side for a face wash since most washes only stay on your skin for a very short time and you don’t reap many benefits, however since this really does so much more for your skin and your moisture levels, I do consider it worth it.
