Uma’s Luxury Oils + A Mother’s Day Giveaway

Any mom knows the value of a little peace, calmness and some time for ourselves, especially in our (often self-made) hectic schedules. There are days I can’t even hear myself think over the drone of kid laughter/fighting/generally silly noises, the puppy barking, the constant running from here to there and then back across town all over again. It can be hard to just sit for a moment and be calm or to even recognize those times that should be truly blissful moments. I’ll admit there have been times I’ve caught myself not even being present only to look around and see my kids playing nicely, the sun is shining, and all is right with the world- I should be full of joy! I should be so happy in those moments, but instead my mind is running through a list of what’s next, what do I need to get done? I know, I know. I should slow down. Stop and smell the roses.. It’s just much easier said than done for me at times, so any product that can actually get me to do that gets a high score from me. And as you may have guessed by now, Uma has done just that for me with their decadent line of luxury oils.

Pure Calm

Uma has created a line of Wellness Oils, Face Oils and their newly launched Hair Oil. All of which are made using thousands of years old Ayurvedic based formulas from India, which is where Uma’s founder Shrankhla Holecek was raised. Not only does Uma incorporate all of the knowledge and formulas (some that were used by royalty!) that have been passed down through the generations, but they also take great care in how their ingredients are sourced and how their extractions are produced. Uma actually has it’s own 100 acre meadow where the plants are grown and they take great care not to over harvest their plants. This means a slower growing process and less overall yield, but as they believe, it results in a higher quality product in the end.

Their Wellness oils were the first thing I tried and I have to say, I fell in love with the beautiful bottle they come packaged right away. I tried Pure Calm, Pure Bliss and Pure Energy. It’s hard to pick a favorite as far as the scents go. They all have a very pretty, yet rich scent to them. I even found that they smelled very different when I wore them on my pulse points from when I was using them in the diffuser. The biggest impact these have had is that I’ve been mindful about using them. If I’m feeling stressed for example, I stop to either apply Pure Calm to myself or put some in my diffuser (perhaps if others around me may be needing some calmness too ;)) and just the act of pausing to do something for myself and address the stress, causes me to slow down and take a breath. Then on top of the therapeutic benefits of the oils, they smell so wonderful that I truly feel like I’m taking a moment to do something nice and loving for myself. The same goes for when I need a little bliss or some energy to tackle a project or just the afternoon (I love diffusing Pure Energy in the afternoon). Each oil truly fulfills it’s purpose and helps break you out of whatever is going on and be more present. Here’s a breakdown of what’s in each of those blends (all are 100% organic):

Pure Calm– Chamomile Essential Oil, Vetiver Essential Oil, Jasmine Essential Oil, Geranium Essential Oil, Sandalwood Essential Oil, Lavender Essential Oil and Clary Sage Essential Oil in a Jojoba oil base.

Pure Bliss– Rose Essential Oil, Ylang Ylang Essential Oil, Sandalwood Essential Oil, Chamomile Essential Oil, Lemon Essential Oil, Lavender Essential Oil and Clary Sage Essential Oil in a Jojoba oil base.

Pure Energy– Rosemary Essential Oil, Ylang Ylang Essential Oil, Frankincense Essential Oil, Patchouli Essential Oil, Peppermint Essential Oil, Ginger Essential Oil, Basil Essential Oil, Clary Sage Essential Oil and Jasmine Essential Oil in a Jojoba and Evening Primrose oil base.

Face Oil Kit

I also tried samples of their new Intensely Nourishing Hair Oil and one of their face oils. The hair oil is great for a quick way to get your hair under control before you run out the door, but it also helps with more than just that. Grapefruit and lemon essential oils help promote new growth and can help with cleansing your hair and hibiscus and yerba de tago are great at smoothing hair and fighting frizz. It has a slightly citrusy, spicy smell that actually just smells very clean. The Absolute Anti-Aging Face Oil sample was also really lovely. I just tried a sample so this is just my quick take- but the face oil sinks into your skin fast and really hydrates deeply. I also really love the rich floral scent.
