7 Things For July
July is here with all of it’s Popsicle-filled, sun soaked goodness. It’s the height of summer and we’re trying to play it cool by visiting the pool as much as possible and squeezing in all of the fun things we didn’t get to do during this past school year (I’m still in denial that I have a rising 1st grader AND that he’s already completed a whole year of real school). Long days at the pool or even hanging in the backyard can have it’s drawbacks though, like pesky mosquitoes and getting a little too much sun. Not to worry, I’ve rounded up all my favorite things to help you survive all month long!
One- CV Skinlabs Rescue + Relief Spray
Skip the weird fake aloe gel and calamine lotions. This stuff is the real deal for healing inflamed skin. The milky spray can soothe anything from sunburns to itchy skin (hello mosquito bites!). It even works great on shaving irritation. It has lots of ingredients to promote cooling and calming and dries very fast on your skin. It’s safe to use on little ones too! Buy it here.
Two- Erbaviva Organic Buzz Spray
You guys, I’ve tried A LOT of natural bugs sprays. I live in the south and the bugs are so intense during the summer, but this is one of the best bug sprays I’ve tried. I use it on the kids and myself and we get no bug bites with it. It’s pretty amazing because mosquitoes are super attracted to me and usually I get eaten alive, even with conventional sprays. Erbaviva’s spray stays right by our back door and gets used frequently. The founder of the Back To Basics box first introduced me to it and had me try it out, so I’m very excited to report it will be in their July box too! You can also buy it from their store, here.
Three- Just The Essentials by Adina Grigore
I am far from an expert when it comes to essential oils. I have a few blends I like to use, but otherwise I haven’t delved into that whole world too deeply. So I’ve added Just The Essentials by S.W. Basics founder, Adina Grigore, to my reading list this summer. It’s really great because it breaks down how to use them, which ones do what and what the benefits are. Even seasoned oil users may enjoy this book since it has so many great DIY’s and good info. I think newbies like myself will really get a lot out of it. You can find it here.
Four- Kari Gran Lip Whip in Jeannie
What is summer without a great summer lip color? This newly released shade is a very pretty berry color that goes on sheer, but you can build it up for more color. I’m a huge fan of Lip Whips and have them all over my house. They’re seriously the best lip moisturizers! I love the light berry shade of this one for daytime. You can find it here.
Five- Ursa Major Brighten Up Vitamin C Serum
All that sun and pool water can take it’s toll, but Ursa Major’s Brighten Up is a great way to combat all of that. It’s full of great ingredients to help skin stay hydrated, calm, and bright. Aloe juice, aspen bark extract, rosehip extract and more combine with vitamin c to help protect your skin and keep it clear and healthy. It’s very lightweight and I’ve found that it layers great under other treatments or moisturizers. Ursa Major is also offering all of my readers 20% off any order until July 31st! Just use code MAISONPUR. You can find their products here.
Six- Zoku Popsicle Makers
We love making popsicles! It’s such a great way to cool off in the summer and we add in lots of good ingredients (sometimes I even sneak in veggies!). We’re fans of Zoku Popsicle makers since they freeze super quick and my kids are not fans of waiting when it involves fun things like popsicles. I even noticed the Jolene Hart is a fan in my interview with her this week, so you know they must be great! We use the classic version, but I’m thinking of trying the squeezy pops this summer too. You can find the popsicle maker here.
Seven- Old Orchard No. 5 Pebble Mask
This pebble mask is great for cleaning out your pores, which my skin really needs in these hot months. The mask is unlike any I’ve ever seen white kaolin clay, hibiscus flowers, calendula flowers and more are made into little purple-ish pebbles that you mix with water to create the mask. It dries quick and after wiping it off, I’m left with super clean pores. You can find it here.I also want to mention their Aqua Emulsion Which is a great lightweight serum for your hair, body or hands. It’s not greasy at all and perfect for hotter months when you don’t want to layer on thicker moisturizers. Be sure to head to Instagram today where we’re teaming up to give these both away! You can find the Aqua Emulsion here.
Summer flies by so quick. I want to savor these summers with my little ones, so I’m taking it one day at a time this July and I’m excited about some trips we have coming up. What’s everyone else up to this July? xo
