Ahhh! This one has been SO hard to keep under wraps. Especially since I’ve known about it since spring and it features one of my favorite brands. Oh, AND I may have been one of the first to test the Hero this month and had a little input into the final scent of it! The brand is Maya Chia, of course, and the products from them in this August Beauty Heroes are two of my favorites.
I’ve talked endlessly about Maya Chia for years now, so I won’t go into their whole history, but the short version is that this Charleston-based brand really gets skincare. The founder is meticulous about her formulations and the ingredients they use. The end result is always a beautifully crafted product that performs well and smells amazing.
The Hero
Dive right into this cool pool of The Refresh Mint Resurfacing Moisture Mask. So some of you may remember my trip to Charleston back in March with Jeannie from Beauty Heroes, Lisa from thisorganicgirl.com and Jessica from Barebeautyblog.com (& Charleston native) met up with Susanne, the founder of Maya Chia. When Susanne had us try the mask I knew it was going to be great even though she hadn’t even finished nailing the scent. She actually gave us a couple of versions to try! In the end, we all we in her studio testing scents and giving our input. Susanne is very good at creating beautiful scents and I love what the final product was. It was my favorite combination!

As for the mask, it is pretty amazing! It exfoliates and pulls moisture back in with a combo of gentle acids, hyaluronic acid, and deep moisturizers. It leaves skin so smooth and soft. The best part is that it can be a quick mask or you can even sleep in it! It dries to a matte film and won’t stain sheets or get stuck in your hair. It also dries fast, so it’s a super easy mask! I love the glow it gives and, not to mention, the scent is very pretty too! This normally retails for $68.
The Sidekick
Another favorite of mine from Maya Chia! The Optimist face mist is like a toner and serum combined that treats and moisturizes your skin. It happens to smell amazing too and is really refreshing on a hot day! This is great to layer under your moisturizer or for a quick refresh during the day. I’ve also used it to set my makeup and it works fantastically! The sidekick is a generous travel size and is valued at $29.
Here’s where I tell you that this month’s Beauty Heroes will go fast! But seriously, Maya Chia is a fan favorite so if you wanted to give it a try, I would suggest jumping on it before it sells out.
