Better Than Gel Review + Aila Giveaway!!

I consider myself a true nail polish connoisseur. Of all the beauty products that make me swoon, I’ve always had a special place in my heart for nail polish and you’ll rarely find me with bare nails. I may be a teeny bit of a brand snob and really had doubts about going green with my nail products. I just assumed they wouldn’t be as good or last very long. I mean, isn’t that why all that hazardous stuff’s even in nail polish, to make it work so great? But then I found Aila Cosmetics. Long lasting, non-toxic and an awesome color selection? Too good to be true! Then they went and upped the ante by creating ‘Better Than Gel‘, a top coat that keeps your mani intact just like a traditional gel manicure but without all the toxic crap and negative side effects to your nails. 

Better Than Gel is a game changer in the world of non-toxic nail care. Apply it just like a traditional top coat and it plumps up to form a protective finish on your nails. Better Than Gel goes on smoothly and I was surprised at how fast it dried. Since it gets a little thicker as it dries, I assumed it would need extra dry time but within 20 minutes it felt very solid (as in I could hop into bed sometime soon without the fear of dreaded sheet marks). I usually use a base coat, 2 coats of color, and a top coat, so I’m always careful about making sure each coat has time to dry between applications and I’ve found that this helps any polish set better. 

The verdict? Total winner! My nails get a beating from doing kid stuff, household chores and just general clumsiness. Better Than Gel survived all of that and even a week later my nails looked like they were just painted. NO chips and they still had that thick protective barrier. My pedicure did even better! Ballet kills my pedi usually. The tight shoes plus being on my toes makes it hard for any polish to stay on, but it survived! Miracle product? I think so.
