Clove + Hallow Review, Plus A Discount Code!

I say it often, but green beauty has come such a long way in the last few years. There are more and more high performance, quality brands available and when it comes to makeup, Clove + Hallow has made quite a name for themselves! Their line of quality products, as well as wide shade ranges, sets them apart. Since I’ve gotten to try several of their products over this past year, I’m excited to share my Clove + Hallow review! I’ve even got a discount code for ya at the end!

Clove + Hallow Review

Various Clove + Hallow products scattered on vanity

So much to love about this line, including that they use refillable packaging when possible and that they ensure everything is vegan. I also really like that they not only offer a wide array of shades for their complexion products (something that green beauty hasn’t always been great about), but they also swatch all of their products on at least 3 very different skin tones on their site. This is so helpful since even something like a light pink lipstick can look wildly different on different skin tones.

As far as ingredients go, they are overall pretty good. They do use some synthetics (all are considered safe), but I don’t have major beef with any of the ingredients. While I tend to be an ingredient purist, I think for the results this line achieves it walks a good balance between ingredients and performance.

Onto the products!

Lip Velvet

A colorful assortment of Lip Velvets lined up on counter

Wow, these blew my mind! The Lip Velvets apply like a gloss but dry to a matte lipstick that doesn’t budge. It stays on for hours and doesn’t come off while eating or drinking. They have so many pretty shades! It’s hard to pick a favorite but I think Darling, which is a soft neutral pink, would be a front runner for me. I also love the bold Napa which is a deep magenta. $19

Lip Crème

Another win in the lip category! The Lip Crèmes are very moisturizing and pigmented. They apply easily with their creamy texture and stay put. These aren’t as long-lasting as the Lip Velvets but still perform quite nicely for a lipstick. It’s also hard to choose my favorite here, but I would maybe say Desert Rose as it’s a nice nude pink. Pictured above is their bright shade, Blooming. They also have some fun bright shades too! $23

Lip Glaze

Swatches of Clove + Hallow Lip Glaze

The Lip Glaze has a twist-up dispenser that pushes it into a brush for easy application. These are really lightweight and hydrating. I’ve only tried Candied Hearts, and as you know I love pink tones, so I do happen to like this shade a lot! $17

Pressed Mineral Foundation

Swatches via Clove + Hallow

Big props for their wide range of shades and different undertones! The Pressed Mineral Foundation is very versatile as you can apply a light layer or it builds quite nicely for more coverage. It’s matte and does a great job of oil control if you have oily skin. I’ve found this is pretty long-lasting. I wear shade 04. You buy the pans and compact separately. Pans are $24.

Refillable Powder Compact

I love that they reduce your plastic waste by having an easy to reuse compact. You just pop the old pan out and pop the new pan in. This goes well with their Pressed Foundation and Bronzing Powder. $8

Vegan + Sustainably-made Makeup Brushes

A hand handling up 3 Clove + Hallow Brushes

I shared on Instagram a few weeks back that these may be my most favorite makeup brushes that I’ve ever tried. They’re super dense and do such a precise and thorough job applying and blending in makeup. The precision buffer is so versatile too! The best deal is to buy the set of all 3 ($67 but currently on sale for $60) or you can purchase each brush separately

H2Glow

This one isn’t makeup but is a great prep for makeup, so I wanted to include it. H2Glow is a hydrating serum that really helps plump and prep your skin for makeup. I would definitely apply a nice moisturizer on top after you apply the serum to seal in the hydration and then, apply your makeup as normal! $28
