The Face Of Winter
So… Anyone else completely over this ice age that hit so early? My face suddenly became dryer than the Sahara Desert and nothing helped. I was just getting ready to do a post about my fall skin routine and Bam! everything changed. I promptly ordered some new products and did a 180 on my routine. First, I stopped washing my face in the morning which sounds completely cray cray. I’ve always had combination/oily skin and could never even dream of a time I’d wake up and just splash some water on my face or (*gasp*) layer more moisturizer over my unwashed skin! But here I am doing it. At night, I’ve been washing with my new Elizabeth Dehn for One Love Organics cleansing oil (which is awesome and doesn’t strip my skin at all! Review coming soon), then I layer with my Kypris Clearing Serum to keep breakouts at bay, followed by Kahina Giving Beauty Night Cream. I’ve used Kahina Night Cream before and my skin did well with it then and even better now, with it’s extreme need for moisture.

My face isn’t the only thing that’s dried up due to the weather- so has any motivation to workout. I’ve never been a huge fitness person but I’ve tried to maintain some sort of activity. I do Ballet every week, which is a surprisingly good workout, and try to supplement with some Barre classes and home workouts. I’m not going to lie, lately I’ve been struggling to even go to Ballet and definitely not doing anything other than that. It’s not really weight gain I’m worried about but just overall health and staying in shape. I totally hate the soft, jiggly muscle tone I’m rocking right now. I’m really going to try to go to a Barre class once a week and do a home workout 2 other days (in addition to my ballet classes). That may seem easy, but I’m with my kids from about 6:45 am to 8:00 pm (my oldest no longer naps) and it’s super tough to try to wake up early or workout after 8. I know, I know- I see you people on instagram working out 24/7 like it ain’t no thing. More power to you, but I’m still over here just working up the motivation….
Hopefully this is a judgement free zone though! Do you struggle with staying healthy and fit in the winter? Any tips to stay motivated?
Haha, love how this started off as a skincare recommendation to combat winter weather to advance, yes advance to more routine musings 😉 I’m totally with you on both the exercise and the tantalizing glass of wine (doesn’t help that my other half used to work in the restaurant business and knows his stuff!)….and dips in temperature make red wine seem more inviting than at any other time. Don’t beat yourself up about it, seems like you’re aware of your “bad habit” (hehe) and as long as one exercises moderation I don’t see why we should deny ourselves of life’s small pleasures 🙂 On a different note, I need to try that cleansing oil from ED4OLO as well as anything from Kypris! Just read Kim’s review of their Antioxidant Dew before I came here so now I’m even more tempted! Xx
Nic,
So glad I’m not alone haha! There has to be room for some small pleasures, right? The ED4OLO cleansing oil gets a huge thumbs up from me!! It smells insanely good (speaking of small pleasures). I read Kim’s review too and it was spot on. I don’t know what Kyrpis puts in their formulas that make them so magical but all that I’ve tried have been magnificent! Thanks for reading. xo
