Homemade Du Jour
A skincare line born out of a desire to truly find an answer to dry skin, instead of a temporary fix, and a maker that strives to keep things as natural and pure as possible, has resulted in the beautifully handcrafted line by Homemade Du Jour. The love and care put into every product is evident and as I got to know their creator, Jessy, I soon found out why.
Funny enough, when Jessy and I first connected and talked about me trying some of her products, I was absolutely swamped and so we agreed to touch base again in a few months about it.. In the meantime, we actually became great friends on social media and I ended up learning so much more about her products and her process! I already loved what Homemade Du Jour stood for and really liked their branding, but seeing how much she cares about what goes into her products was the icing on the cake for me. It made me appreciate her creations even that much more. So much so, that I’ve teamed up with her for a giveaway of one of my favorite products I tried from her. More about that in a moment- First, let’s talk about the decadent products I tried!
I spoke with Jessy a bit more in depth about this product than any of the others. The thing about eye creams/lotions/balms is that a lot of brands promise incredible results and in reality, no eye product is ever going to reverse aging and make you look 20 (sad, I know). It’s more about protecting and taking care of the delicate area and Homemade Du Jour accomplished that with minimal ingredients. I tried to think of an eloquent way to describe the ingredients, but the maker of this line did a way better job than I could have, so I’ll quote her:
“The Eye Cream is more focused on: moisturizing, providing free-radicals protection to prevent premature skin aging (it is innately antioxidant rich), assist to regenerate & maintain skin elasticity by stimulating collagen production (which 4 ingredients in it enable such skin benefits, including the Frankincense EO), and finally to serve as skin repairing/healing, anti-inflammatory and soothing mostly (but not only) thanks to both the organic Lavender & Roman Chamomile EO in it, {…} frankly effective results can be achieved with ingredients simplicity when formulation is done efficiently. Less is more.”
See, didn’t she describe it so well? The Eye Cream is a waterless cream so it’s very thick, rich and hydrating. I’ve found the easiest way to apply is after I’ve allowed it to warm up on my fingers for a couple seconds. The scent is hard to describe, but very soothing. What I loved most is that my eye area still feels very hydrated when I wake up the next day, instead of feeling like my eye cream just disappeared over night.
The Body Butters are also immensely hydrating as well as thick and rich, like the Eye Cream. These keep your skin moisturized all day long and because of the ingredients they have a natural sun protection of SPF 10. They are also full of vitamins and antioxidants, which makes them great at helping with anti-aging. I tried two scents- the first was the Calming Body Butter and it has a nice gentle, calming scent. I also tried the Cocoa Lavender Body Butter and it is sooo yummy! I would have never thought to put those two scents together but it makes quite a lovely scent.
Turns out cocoa isn’t the only thing that smells divine with lavender.. The Lemon Lavender Sugar Scrub smells absolutely incredible and I was so surprised to see real bits of lavender and herbs in it! It makes this scrub feel even more decadent. This may be my favorite of all the products I tried from Homemade Du Jour, if not just for the scent. So Homemade Du Jour is giving one away to a lucky reader! Just see below for how to enter. Good luck to everyone!
