I’m back with the next and final installment focusing on teens & tweens! This time is all about organic makeup for teens. I couldn’t wait to get the green light to wear makeup as a teen. Wearing makeup is a fun rite of passage that shouldn’t bring worry about what’s in the products. As I shared in a previous post, teen girls use more beauty/personal care products daily than any other demographic. And as a study of 100 teenage girls showed, what they’re applying to their faces and bodies matter. After just 3 days of switching to natural products, the levels of harmful product ingredients detected in their urine plummeted.

You can find the Teen Skincare post here and Body Care Post here.

Certainly makeup adds to the overall number of products used each day and to what teens are exposed to. Luckily, today we have some natural makeup brands that can compete with even the best conventional brands! First, let me say that after talking to some moms of teens, I realized that some girls are already shopping at places like Sephora or department stores for makeup, while other strictly shop at drug stores or do a mix of both. So below you’ll find a mix of different price points, but with plenty of affordable options. All of them perform well, have clean ingredients, and would make fantastic additions to beginner makeup bags!

A flashback to the 80’s

Natural & Organic Makeup For Teens & Tweens

You’ll see some repeat brands here. Some good quality lines that clean and not priced over the top are W3ll People, Root Pretty, and Lily Lolo. I also mention Kosas a few times. It’s priced slightly higher than the others but the products and packaging are very appealing for this demographic. There are also some great picks from other lines listed below that are either exceptional values or that would be appealing for teens. Hopefully, there are enough choices below to find something for any teen!

Nail Polish

This has proven to be controversial in the green beauty world since almost all “natural” nail polishes still contain some questionable ingredients. I choose to wear nail polish and try to pick the best brands I can find that have the least amount of bad stuff. I don’t really allow Annabelle to wear it yet, aside from a special trip to an organic nail salon and a few times we’ve used water-based nail paints that don’t really stay on (she’s 6), but we will see as she approaches her teens.

If you choose to introduce your teen to polish, some of the best brands that I’ve found are Aila, Priti NYC, and Kure Bazaar.

If you’re looking for more Budget Makeup picks, check out this post. It can be hard to find affordable organic makeup for teens and tweens, but hopefully, this post helps to make the introduction of makeup fun and worry-free!
