Homemade Iced Matcha Latte
The hot summer days are upon us and even if you love matcha, the thought of a hot drink is probably not that appealing right now! I’ve been craving matcha in a more refreshing form and have been making iced matcha lattes on repeat. My favorite version uses a blend of coconut and oat milk for a creamy consistency. Not only are these super simple to make at home, but they make the perfect summer treat in the morning or the afternoon.
I’m sharing the recipe I use below. I make mine using an Almond Cow, which makes it a breeze. If you make a lot of plant based milks at home and want to try Almond Cow, use code MAISONPUR to save $15 on one of their machines. If you don’t have an Almond Cow, you can make this recipe using a high powered blender. Just be sure to strain the ingredients well after blending. A cheese cloth is the best way to strain it and get all the milk you can out of the recipe.
Feel free to play around with the recipe and make it your own. I prefer my drinks to not be super sweet, so I only add 3 dates. You can add more dates or swap them for a 1/4 of maple syrup for an even sweeter iced matcha latte.
You can watch the video version of this recipe here.
Iced Matcha Latte Recipe
Serves about 3. Coconut oat milk will last for 3-4 days in the fridge.
Add to Almond Cow basket or to your blender:
- 3/4 Cup shredded unsweetened coconut that’s been soaked for 20 minutes
- 1/2 Cup rolled oats
- 3 pitted dates
- 1/4 tsp. Himalayan salt
- seeds from 1/2 of a vanilla bean
Add water to minimum fill line on your Almond Cow pitcher and attach the blender basket to the lid and press the start button. It will stop when it’s finished blending. Remove the basket and your milk will be ready to go in the pitcher.
OR add 3 1/2 cups of water to your blender and blend for 2-3 minutes. Pour mixture through cheese cloth or a sieve and press or squeeze the mixture over a large container with firm pressure until most of the liquid is collected.
Next, for the matcha: Use 1 tsp. per serving and the most important part is mixing the matcha for each serving into a paste with a little water before adding the milk. This helps the matcha to not clump up and keeps the mixture smoothest. My favorite brand of matcha is Encha. They’re organic and tested for purity. Not to mention, it’s high quality and one of the best matchas that I’ve tried!
Now you’re ready to go! Just pour the coconut oat milk into the glass with the matcha paste, mix it up, and add some ice. BOOM! Your very own homemade iced matcha latte!
