I’ve been so excited about the May Beauty Heroes box because it features one of my favorite luxury brands! You’ve heard me talk about them before, but the Spain-based skincare brand, Ayuna, just kills it with their new launches. SO I knew that this box would likely be a hit since it includes a brand spanking new launch and another recent launch that I was already in love with. Let’s dive in, shall we?

The Hero
Velo 6-in-1 Suprastratum Protection: AKA the daily moisturizer I didn’t know was missing from my life. This tinted moisturizer is a powerhouse that combines the best ingredients to nourish and protect skin. We hear of products “protecting” skin a lot, but what does this look like? For Velo, it means marshmallow extract that forms a protective barrier to keep pollution from adhering to skin, while other ingredients protect skin from moisture loss, and zinc oxide and titanium dioxide form a physical barrier that protects against sun damage. Just a quick note on sun protection. for my readers in the EU, this is rated as having a 30 SPF protection. They can’t market it the same in the US since it currently going through the FDA verification process, so that’s why you may see it listed a bit differently.
Velo is super lightweight, absorbs in well without a white cast, and has a luxurious scent just like most of their products. You guys know how I feel about products with strong scents (even all natural ones), but this is the exception to my rule. All their scents are strong but always so lovely and they never bother me. I feel like it’s perfume when I wear it!! Overall it sits on my skin really well and is moisturizing enough that I can wear it with just a light serum under it.
The Sidekick
The Facial in Low. Goodness, I love this product. I have it in High, as well, but it’s best to start out with the Low. It’s hard to even explain it. It’s almost like a toner and you would apply it right after cleansing, the same as a toner, but it does so much more. The liquid to powder formula is completely oil free and gives your skin a good overhaul. A combo of alpha amino acids gets to work exfoliating skin and smoothing out texture and pore build up and it also soothes inflammation and balances your skin’s microbiome. It does sting a little the first few times you use it, but it’s doing so much good stuff for your skin, I promise it’s worth it!
