FIND YOUR “GREEN” FOUNDATION MATCH

First and foremost I am SO excited to do a guest blog post for my dear friend Molly. She was so sweet to ask me knowing I have been battling blogging blues while my site gets redesigned. With that said lets get right to it!

I would have to say the number one question I get asked by my friends and family is, “what nontoxic foundation do I start with?” I think the reason I am always asked this question is mainly because green beauty brands are still under the radar to those who frequent what we all see most often which is Ulta, Sephora, Macy’s, etc. And if you aren’t familiar with nontoxic brands I can definitely see how it could be overwhelming, so I thought I would make a guide for green newbies or even those in search of a new great foundation that will work especially for their skin type, because that is key!

SKIN TYPE: OILY/ ACNE
My pick for those dealing with excess oil and acne is Alima Pure Satin Matte Foundation. I chose this foundation because it’s made of only four ingredients(mica, titanium dioxide, zinc oxide, iron oxides) that will soak up your oily spots yet still cover magnificently. There are over 61 shades to choose from and it’s super affordable at $25. Find at www.alimapure.com, where they offer samples so you can correctly match your shade! Tip: Mix this loose powder with your favorite serum and you have a quick tinted moisturizer that will pack a punch!!

SKIN TYPE: MATURE
My pick for those with more mature skin is Vapour Organic Beauty Atmosphere Luminous Foundation. This foundation is made up of 70% Certified Organic ingredients including anti-inflammatory Frankincense and moisturizing Lotus flowers as well as 30% natural mineral pigments and vitamins. This is going to give mature skin a natural glow that will minimize the look of fine lines and wrinkles! Vapour offers a wide range of shades for any skin tone as well-which as a makeup artist I love because I am always looking for darker shade options for my kit!! Retail is $42. Find at www.beauteabar.com

SKIN TYPE: DRY
My pick for those dealing with flaky and dry skin is RMS Un cover-up. This is technically a concealer but covers extremely well and a little goes a long way. The main ingredient is organic coconut oil which delivers intense hydration (though steer clear of this if you have coconut sensitivities or allergies). You can possibly skip moisturizing your face before using this due to how hydrating it is, it truly sinks into your skin!! There are five shade options available for this and retail is $36. Find at www.spiritbeautylounge.com.

SKIN TYPE: COMBINATION
My pick for combination skin is W3ll People Narcissist Stick Foundation. I love the ingredients in here. This foundation has organic aloe for hydration but also green tea and chamomile to calm any redness or blemishes and an antioxidant boost which are all great for combination skin. The shade options are nice and the stick form is super convenient. Retail is $38. Find at www.spiritbeautylounge.com.

HONORABLE MENTIONS:
For those who enjoy an all in one type of foundation, I recommend Jane Iredale Glow Time BB Cream. Now, the ingredients aren’t the absolute cleanest but they also aren’t the worst either so I let it pass because the coverage is amazing and it has an SPF 30 in it which I like! Retail: $48. Find at www.citrinenaturalskin.com
Beautycounter Tint Skin Complexion Coverage is also a great option for those looking for a tinted moisturizer. The coverage is more on the light/medium side but it’s buildable and really evens out your skin leaving you with a gorgeous luminous glow! Retail is $38. Find at www.laurenvanloo.beautycounter.com.

I hope these recommendations will take some of the headache out of trying to find the perfect foundation. And remember it’s not just about the foundation, the application is just as important. Whether it’s your favorite brush, fingers or beauty blender, make sure you are warming the foundation up before GENTLY blending in, to ensure a flawless application. Please don’t hesitate to email me at [email protected] with any questions!

And another big thanks to my girl Molly for this fun guest post and curing my blogging blues!! 🙂
