Save vs. Splurge

Time for another round of Save vs. Splurge! Sometimes splurging on a luxury product you’ll love and cherish can be considered a form of self-care, but other times a long wish list may have your wallet yelling “HALP!”. After the last Save vs. Splurge, I had several requests to include more face serums, including one particular higher-end serum, which I think I found a pretty good swap for. Whether you plan on saving or splurging, I’ve got you covered!

Active Botanical Serum

Save vs. Splurge

Splurge: Vintner’s Daughters Active Botanical Serum $185

The darling of bloggers, beauty editors, and skincare addicts, this fabled serum has reached fame in both green beauty and conventional beauty circles. The only thing holding most people back from adopting it into their routine? A price tag that may make your wallet shudder.

Save vs. Splurge

Save: Josh Rosebrook Active Infusion Serum $75

Clocking in at less than half the cost of the splurge, the Active Infusion Serum not only shares many of the same ingredients and benefits, but anyone who knows Josh Rosebrook knows there is no compromise on quality here. After combing through dozens of serums to find the best match that also contains high-quality ingredients, this is the one!

Exfoliating Face Serum

save vs splurge

Splurge: Kypris Moonlight Catalyst $98

This serum has enzymes to help exfoliate skin, while peptides and botanical extracts add moisture back in. It’s good for all skin types, but not all wallets.

Save vs. Splurge

Save: Live Botanical Exfoliating Serum $38

A blend of enzymes and acids gently exfoliate while plant extracts work to moisturize. Like Moonlight Catalyst, it’s non-oily and absorbs right in. A great product to layer under any moisturizer and a great price for any wallet!

Tinted Moisturizer With Sun Protection

May Beauty Heroes

Splurge: Ayuna Velo $156

Like all of Ayuna’s products, Velo is a beautiful formulation with a lovely scent. It applies smoothly and does a great job protecting skin from everyday elements. However, the price is just a bit steep for a daily moisturizer. (Psst- this is actually a save right now in the May Beauty Heroes Box. Score it for under $43 until 5/20)

Ssuntegrity Tinted Moisturizer

Save: Suntegrity 5-in-1 Tinted Moisturizer $45

A longtime favorite of mine, this moisturizes, protects, primes, and also lays nicely on skin. The price tag isn’t too bad either.

Lipgloss

Save vs. Splurge

Splurge: Kjaer Weis Gloss $38

KW products have some gorgeous colors and are known for their performance. If you’re in the mood to splurge, these are well worth their price tag and are a chic addition to any makeup bag.

Save vs. Splurge

Save: W3ll People Gloss $15

It’s hard not to love W3ll People with their high-quality makeup and low price tags. If you want to pick up a new gloss without breaking the bank, this one’s for you!

Pink Moisturizing Cream

herbivore pink cloud

Splurge: Herbivore Pink Cloud Rosewater Moisture Creme $48

This is the only item in this post I haven’t personally tried, but I’ve heard this cream feels like a pink cloud. It’s lightweight and never greasy.

Save vs. Splurge

Save: Grace + Tonic Botanical Facial Moisturizing Cream $34.99

This lovely face cream also has many of the same key ingredients, like aloe vera and it’s non-greasy and very light. It also happens to be light on the wallet! Plus you can find it at some Target stores.

Luminizing Powder

7 Things For April

Splurge: RMS Beauty Luminizing Powder $38

Sitting chic, in a lucite compact, the RMS Luminizing Powder gives just the perfect subtle glow anywhere you apply it. I have it in Grande Dame and love sweeping it across my cheek bones.

Save vs. Splurge

Save: Lily Lolo Illuminator $26

The compact may not be as chic as the RMS version, but this luminizing powder does its job once you apply it. It has just enough glow to give you that lit from within look.

So, what will you save on and what will you splurge on?
